Since 1974, our industrial site at Nersac, near Angoulême in France, is dedicated to designing and manufacturing rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries for a wide range of customers. This 13,500 m² ARTS Energy facility constitutes a flexible industrial tool, unique in Europe, and is divided into 2 assembly sectors dedicated to rechargeable cells and batteries.
This fabrication and assembly sector manufactures Ni-Cd and Ni-MH rechargeable batteries on 7 technologies and format dedicated production lines (AA, Cs, C, D and F). These highly automated production lines implement various processes (cutting, coiling, laser welding, patented electric arc welding, dosing and crimping). This production tool enables ARTS Energy to ensure a high level of reliability for its Ni-MH and Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries.
After assembly, the rechargeable batteries are subjected to an electrical treatment designed to check and optimise their electrochemical operation.
Complex charging and discharging cycles are performed at different temperatures on dedicated, computer-controlled industrial test benches ensuring an optimum performance level for each application.
The factory comprises a battery production shop, meeting all our customers’ expectations, and designed by our in-house Battery Design Office. This sector possesses extensive expertise in multi-battery technologies and ensures fabrication and assembly of Ni-Cd, Ni-MH or Li-ion battery technology.
All our industrial production tools benefit from technical department support ensuring requirements for mechanical engineering, automation, electronics and process control. In cooperation with ARTS Energy’s production, quality and maintenance teams, the process and industrialisation teams design and upgrade our production equipment and tooling.
To achieve the company’s a high level of excellence, our industrial tool implements an extensive range of automatic and/or manual equipment offering great flexibility in terms of not only battery format (blocks, sticks, special models), but also order volumes. Patented electric arc welding is the basic skill in the Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-ion battery production shop, but it also implements gluing, ultrasound welding, marking and assembly processes. Its many years’ experience in producing complex batteries integrating electronics, the sector operates test and programming benches required for Li-ion battery implementation.
