Staff trained to manage transport of dangerous goods such as Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries

Our batteries are subjected to current regulations on shipping and transporting hazardous materials by road, sea or air. As such, Lithium-ion batteries in particular must be certified under Section 38.3 of the “UN Manual of Tests and Criteria” for safe transportation in compliance with current standards. ARTS Energy works in cooperation with a specialised consultant in transporting hazardous materials, when handling special orders, and with service providers capable of accepting hazardous materials during delivery. Our teams receive regular training in packing these hazardous materials and they prepare your packages in compliance with international standards. For more information on the different shipments cases for hazardous materials, you can:

The batteries referenced herein are exempt articles and are not subject to the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard requirement. This sheet is provided as a service to our customers.

Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are a sub-requirement of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR Subpart 1910.1200. This Hazard Communication Standard does not apply to various subcategories including anything defined by OSHA as an “article”. OSHA has defined “article” as a manufactured item other than a fluid or particle; (i) which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture; (ii) which has end use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during end use; and (iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g. minute or trace amounts of a hazardous chemical, and does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees.

Because all of our batteries are defined as “articles”, they are exempt from the requirements of the Hazard Communication Standard, hence a MSDS is not required. Anyway ARTS Energy has decided to provide Batteries Information Sheets (BIS) to the customers to help them knowing the batteries contents and risks.
